Often not. If your constraint is team coordination at scale, services help; if it is anything else, a well-structured modular monolith is cheaper to run. We recommend against decomposition as readily as for it.

Additive-only changes within a version, automated contract tests against recorded consumer expectations, and published deprecation windows before any version is retired.
